I am pleased to be apart of the fujifilm instax family. Just missed the opportunity to purchase the 300 version of the camera that everyone raved about. Many people were not too fond of the latest iteration of the fully automatic (no manual control) 400 camera. This did not matter much to me because I really wanted an instant camera that printed the larger film.
The green color did not seem very cool at first, but in person, it is actually quite refreshing. It is different than what I would normally want. Left of center and kind of off the wall.
What solidified my decision was watching the Jimmypmedia YouTube video “How Good Is The Insta Wide 400 For Street Photography? Manchester POV!” You should check it out and also other videos he has done.
I took my camera out and realized just how much fun it is to have a fully automatic camera. No fiddling with shutter speed and adjusting aperture. My focus was strictly to look for photographic opportunities and take the picture.
On the first day of use, I took 20 photos and emptied my first box of film. Now that I have a better understanding of how the camera responds in different lighting conditions, I will move on to my black bordered film.
Another cool thing I picked up a pack of Kona!Rama filters. There are three in the pack:
- Northern Lights
- Rain Drops
- Austin
I will be creating a new page of the site with a gallery of all this film photography. That way you can enjoy viewing the photos too.
